About

Laura James

Agriculture Advocate

Howdy! My name is Laura James, and I’m a 7th generation cattle rancher and a 4-H Livestock Ambassador. I show cattle at local and major stock shows (Fort Worth is my favorite!), participate in numerous 4-H & FFA events, play volleyball, and serve as a member of the NHS, FCA, Flatonia Student Council, Fayette County Republican Women, Fayette County High School Republicans, and Navidad Valley Cattlewomen’s Association. I love Jesus, my dog Rez, cold weather, spoiled show heifers, old Chevy trucks, George Strait, Sonic strawberry limeades, and, of course, my family. I don’t have an artistic bone in my body, but I do have a few writing & speaking bones (is that a thing?). I plan to use these skills to combat misconceptions that surround the agriculture industry and inform consumers about the vitality of agriculture in our everyday lives. This industry means the world to those of us who are “growing for” one thing and one thing only: the future of agriculture. I hope you leave here with a greater understanding of the behind-the-scenes aspects of food production and a new perspective on how agriculture affects each and every one of us. Thanks for stopping by!
